SNAME Maritime Convention
The SNAME Maritime Convention will be held in Houston, Texas, from 26 to 29 September 2022.

At the event we are also presenting the paper "Optimum Design of Extra-Large Wind Turbine Monopile Covering Multiple Conditions" coauthored by Matteo Bucchini (BLOM Maritime Sp. z o.o), Alex Yang, Roger Basu, Aimin Wang, Won Ho Lee, Gail Baxter, Robert Sielski, Raffaele Frontera, Gabriele Degrassi (ESTECO).
This paper demonstrates how the design of a monopole for a 15-MW turbine can be optimized to survive hurricane conditions using several commercially available design tools. This paper extends the study to address multiple loading conditions, including operational working conditions. To do that, different optimizations were run in parallel with the goal of finding a global solution for the multidisciplinary optimization.
